THIS year's Liskeard Show has been postponed until September because the showground is saturated following weeks of rain.

The organisers have called off the agricultural show which was due to take place on Saturday, July 14, at Merrymeet and have rescheduled the event for Saturday, September 8.

Show general secretary Pauline Ward said: 'The show committee reluctantly made the unanimous decision to postpone the show following the weather we have had.

'The ground is saturated and would just have churned up if we had tried to move equipment onto it.'

The show, which annually attracts between 8,000 and 10,000 people, is in its 109th year and, as far as the organisers know, it is the first time it has been postponed.
