Liskeard football club's annual presentation evening at Dobsons Social Club on Friday drew a large and enthusiastic gathering.
On the pitch there remained some unfinished business as the Cornish Guardian East Cornwall Premier League side still had two matches to play with every chance the side could finish in second place - a tremendous achievement under joint managers Martin Hodge and Colin Barrett in their first season in charge.
The South Western League side had improved slightly on last season finishing in 12th place with 33 points.
Club chairman Keith Lobb thanked all who had helped the club both on and off the pitch this season. The ground itself was a credit to the club and had been maintained to a high standard throughout the season.
JP Leisure and Gilberts continued to support Liskeard with their generous sponsorship and this was very much appreciated.
Jewson League manager Chris Burchell said that for him this season had been a learning curve. But there had been lots of pluses and he was looking forward to next season working with his assistant Mike Doel with every confidence. He thanked the club's ECPL managers and the players who had supported him throughout the campaign.
Martin Hodge also thanked the players for their support .
The club's Under 18s had finished on a high and had reached the final of the Rathbone trophy.
Trophy winners introduced by general secretary Dave Rawlings were - Jewson South Western League - Players Player and Supporters Player of the Year were both won by Steve Nute; leading goalscorer was Paul Webber.
Cornish Guardian East Cornwall Premier League Players Player was Pete Jefford; Supporters Player, Willie Williams; leading scorers with two games to go were Colin Barrett and Derek Thompson. Sportsman of the year was Paul Lowden who had supported the ECPL side on every occasion; clubman of the year, Keith Lobb.
