Farmers in Liskeard will be promoting their work as part of a national event fronted by TV star Adam Henson tomorrow.

Tomorrow (September 12, 10am-3pm), farmers will be outside the Co-op in Barras Street as the industry Red Tractor scheme launches its biggest ever promotion designed to give food shoppers a taste of what it is like to live close to where their food comes from.

Fronted by farmer and TV presenter Adam, it aims to connect shoppers to the key UK harvest period of September to November.

During Red Tractor Week (September 12 to 18), farmers up and down the country will be talking to shoppers outside major supermarkets, explaining about where UK food comes from and the standards that are used to produce them, backed by the Red Tractor logo.

Red Tractor Food Assurance is also giving away a Premier Cottages UK mini break worth £300 every day for 10 weeks.

On-pack stickers, giving shoppers the chance to win £300 of Premier Cottages UK mini break vouchers (one prize a day for 70 days), will be found on Red Tractor assured products in all of Britain’s major supermarkets.

To find out whether they have won, shoppers simply have to visit the Red Tractor website www.redtractor.org.uk

Adam Henson said: ’Visiting the Red Tractor website is a great opportunity for people to understand the standards behind UK farming and food preparation.’
