Liskeard and District Darts League

Finals Night turned out to be a lively evening with an exciting climax. The evening started with the semi finals of the trebles competition with the two trios from the Cheesewring 'A' drawn together and it was Kevyn Piper, Nigel Doney and Pablo Masters who qualified for the final with a 2-0 win. The second semi final went to three legs and included 2 x 180's with Mike Cook,Mike and Francis Julian of Legion 'B' winning the deciding leg to defeat the Liberal Club 2-1.

In the semi finals of the doubles competition the two Cheesewring 'A' pairings were drawn in seperate matches and in the first Mark and Cohn Sibley beat Simon White and Steve Hogan of the Sports Club but we were denied a all Cheesewring 'A' final when in the second semi Paul Bray and Kevin Rowe of Highwayman 'A' beat Pablo Masters and Shaun Hancock 2-1.

It could also have been an all Cheesewring 'A' final in the singles but in the first semi final Mike Cook of Legion 'B' beat Cohn Sibley 2-1. In the second semi Nigel Doney ensured that one of the Minions team would be represented in the final when he won the first and third legs to beat Peter Elliott of Victoria 2-1.

In the final of the trebles Legion 'B' won the first leg with Mike Julian hitting the finishing double but Cheesewring 'A' hit back with Pablo Masters finishing both the second and third legs to win the championship 2-1.

In the Doubles final Cheesewring 'A.' won another trophy for their shelves when Mark and Cohn Sibley won the championship for the fourth season in succession when they beat Paul Bray and Kevin Rowe 2-0.

The final match of the evening was the singles final and with two experienced and previous winners of the championship in the final we were ensured of a good game and Nigel Doney hit 5x100s and a 140 but it was Mike Cook with a ton and 3x140s who hit the winning doubles to win 2-0 and add the Cornish Times Individual Championship trophy to the Captains Cup he won earlier in the season.

The Chairlady of the Liskeard Area Ladies Darts League Jan Stevens presented all the league trophies and in addition to the championships decided on the night included the league championship trophy to Cheesewring 'A', league runners up British Legion 'B', third place trophy Victoria, Ted Pryer doubles winners Pablo Masters and Mark Sibley, captains cup Mike Cook, 180 certificates to 40 players for a total of 80 x 180's scored during the season and finally the trophy for the most sporting team in the league which was voted for by the league teams and this seasons winners were the Liberal Club.
