LISKEARD Lions will not be faced with a bill after a lantern fell from the Parade's fountain monument. The Lions had wrapped bunting around the top of the statue during St Matthews Fair three weeks ago. But at Liskeard town council, county cllr Roger Jones said that the Lions will not have to pay for the damage. Deputy town mayor Chris Ferguson revealed that the bunting had little to do with the lantern falling. 'I believe it was not the fault of the Lions, and that the structure would have fallen down anyway,' said cllr Ferguson. 'There was quite a lot of rust on it, and it had more to do with that than the bunting.' The deputy mayor said he approved the new lantern as it was in-line with the original design.
