LOOE Lions report a very successful summer season of fundraising and say their annual carnival, car boot sales and the Looe river duck race were all well supported. Lion Graham Lang reports that the club's thoughts are now turning to how the funds raised can be spent on good causes. The first decision is to make a donation to the Plymouth Cavitron Fund of £5,000, a charity which they have helped in the past. The cheque will be presented to Mike Turner, director of the Fund, at the Lions forthcoming Champagne Night at the Hannafore Point Hotel, on Saturday, October 16. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to contact Jonathon Hearnden or any Looe Lion member. The Lions wish to thank local businesses and residents, as well as the many visitors who have supported them this year, and would also like to remind the community that several tasks requesting help for the successful 'Leave it to the Lions Day,' which were unable to be done then, are still being considered for a future date.
