LIONEL Richie has confirmed he will be coming to Cornwall to play next year’s Eden Sessions.
The live music events at the biomes are not taking place this year due to the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic but several of the acts have now said they’ll perform in 2021.
Lionel Richie’s Eden Session will take place on June 9 next year.
The global superstar, whose classic tracks include All Night Long, Dancing on the Ceiling and Hello, played two blockbuster sell-out shows at Eden in July 2016.
The concerts were hailed as among the greatest in the history of the Sessions and his return will be eagerly anticipated by his legions of fans.
David Harland, director of Eden Sessions Ltd, said: “We’re thrilled to confirm that Lionel will be returning to play at Eden next year. His stellar performances here a few summers ago created so many magical memories. We can’t wait to welcome Lionel back.”
Lionel Richie has four Grammys, a Golden Globe and an Oscar to his name and has sold well over 100 million albums worldwide. Sales of his latest album Hello from Las Vegas put him at Number One in the Billboard Artist 100 chart in August last year (2019).
The singer-songwriter from Tuskegee, Alabama first found fame singing and writing songs with The Commodores including the all-time classics Three Times A Lady, Stuck On You, Still, and Easy.
After turning solo, he became one of the most successful artists in the world, earning a string of 13 top ten hits between 1981 and 1987, including nine number one singles such as Endless Love, Truly, and Say You (Say Me).
Tickets purchased for Eden Sessions this year will still be valid fo rthe 2021 concerts, say organisers. My Chemical Romance and The Script have also said they’ll be performing next summer.
