A YOUNGSTER who lost her dad at the beginning of this year has set off on ten days of walking in his memory.
Lily Atkinson, 14, completed her first hike from her home in East Looe to Watergate and Talland and back along the coastal path, and she’s now done five of the ten fundraising walks.
She’s raised almost £1,000 so far for the MS Society and those wishing to support her should visit www.justgiving.com and search for Lily’s MS Miles.
Lily said: ‘On the 10th January 2020 my dad very sadly passed away from pneumonia after battling with secondary progressive Multiple Sclerosis for nearly 22 years.
‘During this time, he did many fundraisers in order to find a cure for this devastating disease. Despite my dad’s illness, he was always happy, and had a wicked sense of humour!
‘Living with my dad’s illness was a huge challenge for me and our family. My dad never gave up on himself, throughout his illness he accomplished many things, including a sky dive! I was incredibly proud of my dad and so I would like to do something positive in his memory.’
