The lifeguards will cover the distance on rescue boards, using just their arms to paddle through the water, at the same time raising funds for the charity, Paddle for Life.
This will be the third time this paddle has taken place, the previous trips being in 2008, which set the best time of three-and-a-half hours, and in 2010 in challenging conditions.
The paddle sets off at 10am and the lifeguards hope to arrive in Looe at 1.30pm. After a break, they will be providing cover for the Looe Raft Race.
