A Stoke Climsland youngster has obtained the highest award in junior life-saving after almost two years of learning in the pool and the classroom.

Jessica Turner was one of four youngsters from North and East Cornwall to be presented with the Junior Lifeguard Academy President’s Seal Award at the Phoenix Leisure Centre.

The dedicated 10- year-old has spent an hour each week at the centre in Launceston working towards her qualification.

The programme includes personal survival and life-saving skills as well as first aid training.
