Letters of the week - St Mellion road 'is a death-trap'

My thanks to Mike Crowle and Andy Stewart for their comments regarding further development of St Mellion before the by-pass is built.

It is only the residents of St Mellion that suffer the enormous traffic problems and appreciate what chaos would be caused by even more traffic on our inadequate road and lanes.

Would somebody from CDC please come and wait, outside the Old Post Office House for a bus to Saltash/Plymouth? Even residents needing to cross the road for whatever reason do so in fear of their lives. Do not suggest using the road islands with juggernauts hurtling down the road far exceeding 40 mph; it is a death trap. We were promised, some 20-odd years ago, that all golf course traffic would use the access road provided.

Not so. The lane from the village shop, passing school, church and houses, is used as a short cut for impatient drivers who will not sit behind a bus, lorry etc travelling to Callington. Full marks to Roy Lavack. Who else bothers to attend our Parish meetings? He works extremely hard and is most helpful in each and every matter dealt with by the Parish Council
