I am delighted to see the report on Mr Keith Maddox and how tidy and clean he keeps the area of Hannafore Lane, West Looe.
I wonder if we could borrow him in the Barbican area of East Looe?
We are all so fed up with rubbish, especially in the area of the shops despite numerous phone calls to the powers to be at Caradon, who placed a bin outside to assist, but then forgot that it needs emptying on a regular basis thus causing an overfill spewing its contents over the pavements and the road on windy days.
The footpaths are a disgrace with paper, dead leaves, bottles - you name it we've got it - including the inevitable dogs' mess.
We see our cleaner not very often walking around with his pick stick, I've yet to see a broom and cart. Perhaps the council will be able to give him one with the 10%-12% increase in tax shortly?
Dog Wardens - have we still got one? If we have, I haven't seen him for months.
Last time he was seen he said he had to look after the fish market for two hours out of his four every day to stop dogs/cats fouling that are. Why? I thought the market came under the control of the Harbour Commissioners and not the council, and if dogs are running loose why is he not impounding them?
What I cannot understand is why when we are paying the same council tax as Looe Town and Hannafore we are not getting the same benefits. Looe town is immaculate, it should be, its swept every day.
Perhaps we should request a lowering of our council tax to suit the slum environment that we are forced to live in.
