A man who had a lifelong love of Looe has left a legacy to the town’s lifeboat station.
The family of the late David Mansell Dolman visited the station to present a cheque for £5,000 in his memory.
David first started coming to Looe aged 13 and returned for many years, said a Looe Lifeboats spokesperson.
‘David was a great supporter of Looe RNLI. His interest in rescue services probably started when, at the age of 19, he waded out to the rocks off Looe Beach to rescue a stranded fisherman. He passed away in April last year having generously insisted that a bequest from his estate be made to Looe Lifeboats to support the vital work of local RNLI volunteers.’
A Looe Lifeboats fund-raising committee spokesperson said: ‘We are most grateful for this very generous donation in David’s memory, which will be used to fund the life-saving equipment and crew training we need to continue our local role of saving lives at sea.’
