FOLLOWING the installation of 10 defibrillators, people in Looe have the chance to learn how to use the lifesaving machines with confidence thanks to training sessions which will be run by South Western Ambulance.

Staff will give presentations at Looe Academy School tomorrow (Saturday) and at the Hannafore Point Hotel on December 11 – both between 7pm and 9pm.

Looe mayor Armand Toms said: ‘I would implore people to find the time to attend the awareness sessions.

‘As a community, we all need to familiarise ourselves with this equipment, so that if the need arises we can do our best to save a life.’

There will be no charge for these sessions but donations are requested towards future replacement costs of the units recently purchased.

The machines can be used without training in an emergency if someone suffers a heart attack.
