Liskeard Ath 2 Truro City 1 A Lee Harvey goal good enough to win any game let alone a semi-final saw the Blues through to this season's League Cup final on Tuesday. Yet they made hard work of a game they should have had won by the interval. Instead they had to defend for large parts of the second half after Truro had been gifted a goal in first-half stoppage time. Liskeard tore into Truro from the start in front of a sparse crowd at Bodmin's Priory Park ground, with Dominic Richardson unlucky to see his 20-yard free kick deflected narrowly wide by the Truro defensive wall. Richardson had better luck in the sixth minute as Jamie Morrison-Hill did well to get in his cross from out by the corner flag for the former Argyle striker to hurtle in at the far post to head home. Sam Matthews looked to have broken clear but the Truro defence closed ranks and when the ball came out to Mat Penry the midfielder saw his shot sail over the bar. The second Blues goal came after 21 minutes and it could certainly qualify as one of the goals of the season. Harvey won a midfield challenge with Michael Cain, charged towards the Truro goal and as two defenders converged on him let fly with a corker of a shot that flew straight and true into the top corner of the Truro goal. Matt Hawke almost increased the lead a minute before the break, but his powerful 15-yard header flew narrowly wide of the goal. Hawke was guilty of an unnecessary challenge on Chris Davey, which gave Steve Rowson the opportunity to convert the resultant penalty. This gave Truro the boost they needed and they took the second half honours, although it was Liskeard who were nearest to scoring when Hawke's header was cleared off the Truro goal line.
