Penzance 2 Liskeard Athletic 5
The Blues had this game well and truly sewn up before their hosts hit two late goals in what was a relatively comfortable victory for Dave Leonard's side. 'Along with the Bodmin game, it was probably our best performance of the season,' said a delighted Leonard. Liskeard had the better of the opening exchanges but it was not until 10 minutes before the break that they scored their opening goal. Winger Gary Williams swung over a corner for former Callington team-mate Matt Hawke to power home a header from six yards. The tie was effectively over as contest 15 minutes into the second half as Liskeard pierced the Magpies defence on three more occasions. Midfielder Matt Penry started the ball rolling by taking a shrewd John James pass, controlled it with his first touch and fired low past Paul Williams. For his second, Penry regained possession on the edge of his own area to begin a superb nine-man move that ended with Lee Harvey squaring the ball into Penry's path for the midfielder to tap into an empty net. Dominic Richardson's 30-yard piledriver left Williams a virtual spectator before the former Argyle striker made it 5-0 with a simple tap-in after Paul Baker had unselfishly set him up. Penzance finally got their act together, scoring two late goals through Robbie Robinson and Dave Burt. They could have had a third but for an outstanding save by Kevin Lawrence but another goal would have given the scoreline a false appearance.
