This local derby semi-final was played at Pennygillam with Pensilva starting the brighter of the two sides. Premier League Dobwalls looked in total disarray early on against the stiff breeze.
After only 10 minutes Pensilva took the lead when a through-ball found their centre forward. His first attempted shot was sliced but he was alert enough to recover the ball and fire past Roberts in the Dobwalls goal. Their lead was short lived and five minutes later an elusive run and cross by Stewart Dunn found Johnny Niblett who volleyed home to level. Despite creating chances neither side could get an advantage and the scores remained level at the break.
Dobwalls came out for the second half in a more positive frame of mind and started to play football which produced results early after the restart when Glen Toms rifled home a shot after another teasing cross. Pensilva went further behind when a cross aimed at Simon Fisher was headed past the keeper by a defender. Dobwalls were now in command and could have scored a number of occasions but failed to take their chances. Pensilva themselves never gave up and came close on a couple of occasions. Simon Fisher completed the scoring near the end to seal the result and take the side into the final against the winners of St Dominick and Menheniot will be played at the same venue.
Dobwalls were below par on the day which maybe due to the fact that they had another semi-final the previous day against Biscovey in the Premier Cup. They meet Callington in that final. A few players were in contention for the Man of the Match award but it was awarded to Stewart Dunn for his tireless running and commitment. The team were sponsored by Jefferys Estate Agents.
