This week’s packed Cornish Times editions all lead with the fact that thousands of pounds have been raised by well-wishers for the family of Liskeard fatal stabbing victim Damien Bendelow.

Hundreds of people have contributed to an online appeal set up in Damien’s memory and to support his bereaved family.

With concerns over crime understandably highlighted this week, we also have pictures and a report on the unveiling of Liskeard’s new police station. Our 999 page also gives an account of a fire in Torpoint which destroyed a garage, and a suspicious vehicle which has been visiting farms in the area.

With the UK’s official break with the EU last week, we report on the differing views towards Brexit still in evidence, and have an article with advice for pet owners travelling to the Continent this year.

There are pictures of puppet character created by a former puppeteer from The Muppets who is helping children to learn about the fishing industry, and a report on a Liskeard student who has won first prize in a competition to design a new toy.

In our recently introduced Saltash edition there is a report on some of the winners of the town’s Festival of Music, Speech and Drama, plus pictures and words on a two-day event encouraging people in the town to pursue new activities promoting fitness and well-being in 2020.

Our Bodmin edition reveals the St Piran Committee’s plans for celebrating Cornwall’s patron saint on March 25, and tells the story of a woman from the town in her 40s who has set out on a new career path after taking up an apprenticeship.

In all editions we also have pictures of two local centenarians celebrating their latest landmark birthdays and, at the other end of the scale, how a Looe youngster has used her martial arts talents to raise money for hospitals in Poland. There are also pictures of retired Royal Navy veterans helping new Raleigh recruits on a Dartmoor training exercise, local Brownies helping out at Looe’s newly-refurbished library, and young performers from the Liskeard area who are bringing a taste of Broadway to the local stage.

As ever, we also have lots of your community news and pictures – including of an event in Looe rekindling memories of life in the town during the Second World War – and regular columns such as Ray Roberts’ Nature Watch, your Letters, TV Choice, Crosswords and Puzzles and the latest Books.

There are also Farming & Equestrian, Property and Motoring pages, ideas for celebrating Valentine’s Day and 12 packed pages of Sport.

Find all of this and more in this week’s Cornish Times editions, in shops from today (Friday).
