The latest COVID-19 figures for Cornwall indicate that there are now 26 ‘cluster’ areas in the Duchy – but numbers in the South East Cornwall clusters are currently staying relatively low and static.

A ‘cluster’ is defined as being an area of 750,000 or more residents where there are three or more cases of the virus.

The latest recorded figures, for the period from October 2-8, show the following clusters in South East Cornwall, as compared to earlier figures for October 1-7:

Kingsand, Maryfield and Antony – no change from six cases.

Saltash, Latchbrook and St Stephens – no change from three cases.

St Germans and St Mellion – no change from three cases.

Altarnun and Stoke Climsland – no change from four cases.

Lostwithiel and Penwithick – no change from four cases.

Par – no change from four cases.

However, further west the latest figures from Public Health England show there is a new Cornish cluster of three cases in Illogan and Portreath.

In Devon the number of cases in the Exeter area is continuing to grow, with the number of cases for the city and surrounding area standing at 532, with a large proportion of that attributable to the student population. Meanwhile the area of Plymouth city centre, Barbican and Sutton Harbour shows a much lower figure of 12 cases.
