Entries close this Friday for the bi-annual competition that recognises excellence among businesses, landowners and individuals who manage Cornwall’s valuable woodland.

The Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association’s (RCAA) forestry section run the competition which covers all aspects of woodland including management, conservation and recreation.

Entries are welcomed from all types and sizes of business or landowner who have planted, maintained or renovated woodlands. Classes require a minimum of just half a hectare (1.23 acres) of woodland, so the competition is not just aimed at large scale forestry enterprises, but also those with smaller areas.

An additional class is aimed at local businesses who add value to Cornish round timber. Previous winners have included a timber hot tub and garden product manufacturer and a kiln dried firewood producer.

Winners will be presented with their prizes at the Royal Cornwall Show. Entry details can be found by visiting www.royalcornwall.co.uk/competitors.
