LISKEARD’S mayor Christina Whitty will be among the fundraisers cutting a swathe through the pool as teams prepare for the annual swimathon in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

The event is set to take place at Lux Park on Saturday November 18, and with the sponsored lengths beginning at 4pm, spectators are encouraged to go along and cheer their friends and family on.

Organiser Yvette Hayward said that 16 teams including school groups, scouts, and town council members had already signed up to take part - and there is still time to register for anyone wishing to join in.

Trophies will be presented to teams and individuals for special performances. Last year’s event raised around £3,000 for the British Heart Foundation.
