A LAMB which had fallen over the edge of a quarry and was stranded on a ledge was rescued by RSPCA officers in an inflatable boat.
The Herdwick lamb fell over the quarry edge at the Gold Diggings quarry at Minions, near Liskeard, and was stuck in brambles at the base of the quarry face in wet and windy weather.
RSPCA rescuers inspectors David Hobbs and Jim Farr, with animal collection officer Peter Ferris and chief inspector Neil Thomas, paddled across to the animal, recovered the lamb and carried it back to shore in the boat.
Despite the lamb's fall, possibly the result of being chased by a dog, it was uninjured and, after 24 hours under observation, was set to be returned to the rest of the flock.
