South East Cornwall Labour Party has announced that its chair, Ruth Wilson, has died after a battle with cancer.

In a short statement released on Wednesday night, it said: ‘It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share news of the passing of our beloved Chair Ruth Wilson.

‘Ruth was surrounded by love and kindness in her last moments as was her wish, she left us peacefully and pain free.

‘Please respect those closest to her while they process this news.

‘We will share details of her funeral, which is likely to be soon, as they become clear.’
