This was the fifth bruising encounter between these sides in two seasons. Both regard themselves as the unofficial champions of EC. Liskeard/Looe decided it was time to settle the dispute with an unquestionable record of four wins, one draw.

Lisk/Looe showed from the first whistle their intention to attack with width. Scrum half Jones made sure the three-quarters had a constant supply of possession. Centre Farris often showed his strength in crossing the gain-line and more often than not managed to stay on his feet, enabling the momentum to continue and the ball re-cycled. Or the choice to use full back Gailer with his speed an asset.

There were several times when fly-half Ball managed elusive runs and hopefully showed the Cornwall selectors what they missed. It was from one of these runs that centre Lee scored a try and again proving he deserves his selection.

Flanker Burchell opened the scoring with the first of two tries. After Rice scored another fine try it looked one-way traffic. But it was not to be as Liskeard developed a familiar tale of wrong decisions. What was more worrying was the count of unforced errors.

Wadebridge sniffed a chance and after scoring a try added another. From nearly being dead and buried Wadebridge were coming close to taking the lead. This certainly became a game of ebb and flow.

Liskeard's pack worked hard but at times the support was not as close as it needed and the ferocity of the arriving players at breakdown areas was at times absent. The defence among the three-quarters needs to be sharpened.

However further tries were forthcoming for Lisk/Looe. Captain Arnold claimed two. Hooker Saunders in the right place at the right time sealed the result with a last minute try.

Credit must surely be given to this young Lisk/Looe side for ignoring the hostile home crowd and staying focused. Players must however assess their performances and be honest for a tougher game ahead next week.
