Callington made a great start to their new season by achieving a good victory over the newly promoted Devon Two outfit. The game started at a quick pace with both teams eager to take the initiative early on.

It was the Y.M.7s who finally opened the scoring by running in two tries scored by Nick lnnnsman and Jim Mossh. Callington were slow to reply but they managed to pull back the deficit to 10-8 by half time with a penalty kick coming from Tremain Harbut and a late try scored by Ali Skews.

The second half was a different story. Callington started off superbly by scoring a try within the first minute courtesy of Mark Jacobs. The conversion was then successfully kicked by Tremain Harbut. Shortly alter it was Harbut who scored the next try and again the conversion. However, Plymouth fought back and managed to break Callington's defence twice to leave them trailing 22 -20, the tries scored by Spike Hughes and Simon Kalas. In the end though, it was Callington who proved to be the stronger side by runiling in the final try of the game with Ali Skews scoring his second and Harbut fmishig the game off with his third conversion.

Overall this was a closely fought game which could have really gone either way. However, Callington will be learning from any of the mistakes made during the game and will be looking forward to playing away to the Saltash 2nd this coming Saturday

Callington's first league game will be on October 2nd where they face Lankelly Fowey at home
