A LONG-serving member of Callington Royal British Legion was presented with the county certificate of appreciation, to mark her many years of service to the organisation.

June Trevithick started her time with the RBL in 1968, becoming standard bearer for the ladies section in 1969 and holding the role for many years.

When the ladies section was discontinued and the standard was laid up, she was asked to be standard bearer for the men's section.

She has continued to perform this office to this day, turning out for all parades.

On Remembrance Sunday she takes part in three ceremonies in the Callington area.

June is also a member of the poppy-selling team and has just been presented with her 40-year Service Bar by the RBL Poppy Appeal.

June is very active in other RBL activities such as fundraising events and the annual concert.

A spokesperson for Callington RBL said: 'June has now given more than 44 years of staunch and loyal service to the RBL and the county certificate of appreciation is long overdue to recognise her dedication.'
