Jolly's Cornwall Cricket League Four (East)
Liskeard v Lanhydrock
The match was held on a Liskeard ground which looked in excellent condition, thanks to the tireless effort of Burt Bulmer and Rob Marchant.
Liskeard won the toss and elected to bat, with Martin Rowe and Dave Skews opening the innings. They started slowly with some accurate bowling by the visitors, but Rowe soon started to find the boundary quite regularly, falling just one run short of his half-century, putting on 85 for the first wicket.
Skews completed another steady knock, eventually being bowled and caught for 57. The middle order fell all to easy, with only Adrian Vince causing the bowlers any problems, with a quick 31. The side fell just one short of maximum batting points with 199 for nine wickets, the pick of the bowling for Lanhydrock being four for 47 off 14 overs from D Rice.
Liskeard started their allotted overs determined to improve on the previous week's poor display in the field. Lanhydrock began in a positive manner, putting on 64 for the first wicket. Skipper Dave Skews introduced the reliable Pat Gilliat into the attack, and was rewarded immediately when he stumped Dave Rice stumped for a fine 43.
The bowlers kept it tight aided by some fine fielding, Lanhydrock being bowled out for 118. The best of the Liskeard bowling came from Gilliat, with three for 24 from 12 overs, while Crabb managed two for 22 in 10 overs. Rowe grabbed three wickets in 6.1 overs, allowing just 17 runs to be made.
