CORNWALL Wildlife Trust is encouraging nature lovers to join the Big Wild Walk this half term to help raise funds to further the charity’s vision to restore at least 30 per cent of Cornwall’s land, rivers and seas by 2030.
The charity suggests using the number 30 as inspiration to either walk 30km during Big Wild Walk Week; in three days or one day. Alternatively create your own challenge, such as walking 3km a day, the distance a hedgehog can travel in one night.
The walk highlights the urgent need to take action for the nature and climate crisis, whether it’s planting underwater seagrass meadows or bringing back beavers – a species that helps rejuvenate wetlands.
Sign up and create your own walk at www.cornwallwildlifetrust.org.uk/bigwildwalk and receive a Wilder Future tote bag when you raise £30. ?Participants can download free autumn nature spotter sheets, a Big Wild Walk tracker sheet and a certificate on completion. Simply choose your route, and make it fun: hike for hedgehogs, stroll for seals or put your boots on for beavers.
