Saltash nearly went into the lead in the 7th minute with the help of Millbrook lfl an effort to clear the ball Matt Usher hit the ball against Graeme Kirkup and it ballooned off him back towards goal, just going over the crossbar. Andy Wright then had to clear a Richard Daly header off the line from the resultant corner. Ian Stephens headed over the crossbar in the 6th minute and ten minutes later Justin Norman forced a good save from Charles West.
Saltash went ahead in the 34th minute when Mike Southgate broke down the lefi wing, beating several defenders for pace, and slid his shot past the advancing keeper.
The Ashes started the second half with Mat Penry's defence splitting pass finding Matt Latham whose cross was cleared. Ian Stephens missed a couple of chan~es, the second of which bounced off the crossbar. Saltash went 2—0 up when Lee Burn's ball across from one wing to the other was met by Mike Southgate who lobbed the ball over the keeper into the net.
Although Millbrook made a double substitution by bringing on Paul May and Danny Milden in place of Lee Cansfield and Wayne Hillson, Millbrook never looked as though they were going to get back into the game.
Finally many congratulations to Mark Courts, Eddie Shapland and Simon Courts, all of whom have recently celebrated their 100th league appearance for Saltash United.
