For the second time this season Saltash can count themselves fortunate to take all three points from a young spirited Launceston side.
Launceston had the majority of chances but a combination of poor finishing by Liam Tilley, Matt Godfree and Sean Johns, along with good defending by Simon Courts and two excellent saves from goalkeeper Charles West kept the Ashes goal intact.
Such was the lack of punch up front it was not until the 46th minute that Launceston's goal was troubled when Lee Burns hit the far upright with a left foot volley. Ashes secured the points with an excellently worked goal on 73 minutes. Eddie Shapland split the Launceston defence to send Mike Southgate racing away. He sent a cross into the middle which his brother Robert met to slide the ball home past Pete West to celebrate his debut with a goal.
