Liskeard completed a rare double over arch rivals Saltash following Saturday's victory but even Blues manager Chris Burchell conceded they were not at their best and on possession were second best. "But we defended superbly especially in the second half", he said.

Liskeard looked the more likely early on with Bradley Swiggs having a shot deflected wide and then just failing to get his head to a Dean Tongue cross.

In the 28th minute Liskeard made the breakthrough with Swiggs putting Tongue clear down the left. His accurate far post cross was powered in by Graham Macmillan. Good covering from Mark Courts - making his 100th League appearance - prevented a second. He cleared off the line after James Gill's cross had been headed on by the dependable Paul Sowden.

Saltash were always in the frame with Matt Latham and Matt Penry testing Mark Henwood.

The visitors had all the play in the second half but couldn't find a way through. And as so often happens they paid the price when Gill set up John Dawe for Liskeard's second.

Sowden was a pillar of strength during the whole 90 minutes and continued to frustrate a bitterly disappointed Ashes player boss Mike Doel.

Midway through the half Liskeard gave a run out to new Argyle capture Simon Parnell.
