Not for the first time this season Liskeard's inability to finish has cost them dear.
With Liskeard dominating the first period Penzance failed to trouble Mark Henwood in the home goal. Simon Parnell did have the ball in the Penzance net early on but his effort was disallowed following a previous infringement.
On 35 minutes Mark Skerton drove over and then both Skerton and Parnell had shots well saved by Dennis Annear. Bradley Swiggs and John Dawe threatened but their attempts flew wide.
There was more of the same from Liskeard at the start of the second half with James Gill and Dean Tongue combining and setting up Graham Macmillan whose effort zipped just wide. Paul Sowden had a header instinctively saved by Annear following a Swiggs centre. With Parnell also denied by the visiting goalie there was a distinct feeling that it was not to be and with Penzance gaining in confidence Jamie Vercesi gave the home side a warning with a fierce drive which grazed an upright.
But it was from a mistake in the 85th minute which saw Penzance open the scoring. Swiggs was caught in possession and from Vercesi's through ball Darren Volz lobbed the visitors in front. Liskeard were forced to push forward and were caught in last seconds when Volz added a second.
