With joint manager Mike Doel having left Liskeard to take sole charge at Saltash, Chris Burchell again took over the managerial reins at Liskeard

Burchell could not have faced stiffer opponents on his sole return to management but Liskeard battled hard, had their chances in the first half, and overall could well have picked up a point. They were certainly far from overalled.

Including newcomers Dean Tongue (from St Breward) and Mark Henwood (Millbrook) in their line-up Liskeard made a tentative start. Falmouth were indeed first to show when Justin Ashburn flashed a shot wide of the home post.

Falmouth 'keeper Steve Taylor was forced to make a couple of smart saves before Dale Band broke the deadlock in the 35th minute. From a corner the ball was only partially cleared and having been whipped back into the danger area Dale Band brushed aside Nick Trevarthen and steered the ball past Henwood.

Dean Tongue then volleyed inches over as Liskeard forced the pace.

Twice Taylor denied Luke Hodge in the second half although it was Liskeard who looked the more likely in the closing stages. A piercing break from Andy Beer split the visiting defence and his inch perfect pass to Andy Bowker gave the striker every chance. But Taylor kept Falmouth noses in front with a brave blocking save. The Falmouth keeper was soon in action again when the jinking James Gill was denied.

Liskeard will take heart from this result conceding just one goal against an attack which had hit 33 in their previous eight matches speaks highly of the Blues well organised defence.
