Caradon went into this match looking to build on the performance they produced in the 3-2 reverse against top-of- the-table Plympton Grammar School Old Boys in their previous outing.
The East Cornwall outfit started strongly and produced some good runs and penetrations into the Marjon 'D', but were unable to convert. Those missed opportunities cost them dear as they were somewhat suc-ker-punched by an innocuous ball into the 'D' that went through two defenders and was deflected into the back of the net to give Marjons a 1-0 lead.
As much as they tried, Caradon's passing didn't quite match their ambitions and they went into half-time without having troubled the opposing goalkeeper much.
They regrouped after the break and came out strongly. The visitors made a good save on the line from a short corner while, at the other end, Steve Walsh and Tim Wright reduced Marjon's attacks as Caradon pushed for an equaliser. They finally got the leveller they deserved when Luke Jeffrey scrambled in a shot under the keeper after some desperate defending.
The hosts pushed for the winner and made the Marjon keeper produce some good saves, especially a low shot by Martin Batty and others by Leon Farrow.
However, despite finishing the stronger team, Cara-don just ran out of time.
