The Cornwall Food Foundation is helping to equip people with the skills they need to find work and stay in employment.
The Foundation, the charity behind Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall and the award-winning Fifteen Cornwall Apprenticeship, will be holding four session courses on employability skills in Truro, St Austell, Newquay, Camborne, Pool and Redruth.
Students will be shown how to write impactful CVs, search for jobs, apply for roles and practice interview skills. They will also be giving advice and tips on how to stay in employment once they have been given a job.
The sessions are part of the Food for Change programme, which uses activities such as growing and cooking food, volunteering and work experience, to help people learn practical skills, get involved in the community and progress into work.
The sessions will be led by support worker Charlotte Trevenna and Matt Stewart, a chef who specialises in providing engaging work experience placements and taster days. At the end of each session, Charlotte and Matt will be providing one-to-one support for those who would like extra advice or information on the world of work.
Free sessions will run in St Austell every Wednesday from January 23 to February 13 between 10am and 1pm.
The training is part of the Food for Change programme. Anyone who is out of work can join and gain access to a host of community-based activities, work placements, short courses and qualifications.
