A young disabled trampolinist had a great birthday present just before Christmas – learning that he has been selected to represent Great Britain in the sport.

Ten-year-old Jago Deighton from Torpoint was chosen for the squad after attending trials in Birmingham. He found out the good news on his tenth birthday, a few days before Christmas.

Jago – who was born with Talipes, commonly known as Club Foot – will now be a part of the national squad selected by the governing body Gymnastics and Movement for People with a Disability.

Jago's mum Melanie Deighton said: 'I'm really proud.

'It's his best birthday present ever.'

It comes at the end of a successful year for Jago, who has only been learning trampolining for 18 months, after he finished second in the National Championships in June.
