NEW and old have come together for the transformation of a Cornish church to create a spacious and flexible community space.

St Martin’s Parish Church in Liskeard has been closed for six months while work has gone on to re-order and refurbish the interior to allow it to be used as a multi-purpose centre where concerts and other events can be held, as well as services of worship.

Now the £550,000 project is complete and an open invitation has been extended to the town and wider community to attend a service of rededication on Sunday, when the church team hopes to use all 400 of their new chairs.
