As a result of recent legal judgements in the long-running planning case involving Caradon council and Calstock residents, Tony and Julie Knott, an interim £30,000 payment has been offered by the council.

The case centres on planning consent given for a home at Sandways, Calstock, and then revoked. A High Court case found in favour in the Knotts at the end of l999, and they were also regarded favourably in a case brought before magistrates.

The subject was discussed in private at a planning services committee.

It was proposed and seconded that solicitors acting for the Knotts be invited to submit a request for an interim payment of compensation.

An amendment was moved and seconded that an interim payment of £30,000 be made as soon as possible
