A range of initiatives aimed at getting people of all ages back into work has been launched at Liskeard’s Job Centre Plus branch this month.

The Army will be bringing its recruitment drive to the town at the end of June and a Lifeguarding event (the date of which had still to be announced) will be aimed at anyone aged 18-60 and will give information on how to obtain a qualification to work in this aspect of the leisure and hospitality industry.

Meanwhile, the Phoenix Project, run with Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service and the Prince’s Trust, will be a 12-week programme for 18- to 25-year-olds aimed at giving young people a step up into work.

The course involves team-building during a residential week, two weeks’ work experience, community work, and the chance to gain new skills and qualifications, as well as help with CV-writing and job-seeking skills.

For further information on any of the initiatives, call the Liskeard Job Centre Plus branch on 0843 4871844.
