You are to be commended for having published the letter from 'Compassion in World Farming' about goose liver pate.

Though almost 70 years ago, I well remember the indignation expressed by my fellow pupils when our French teachers told us how pate de foie gras was produced, and I am surprised now to read that in these more enlightened times and despite all the campaigning by organisations like Compassion in World Farming things have not changed.

I know of three shops (Tavistock, Liskeard and Saltash) where the more exotic delicacies may be bought and armed with my reading glass for the small print intend to rummage about their shelves - but hope I shan't find any pate of this sort.
