Kevin Hendy was one relieved and very happy manager after witnessing his Ashes side overcome a stubborn opponent to record their first victory in six games.

'Absolutely delighted to at last secure three points against a very hard working Wadebridge side on a very tricky surface,' admitted Hendy.

'When you consider our recent form and amount of players missing then this has to be a very good performance and result.

'It was great to have Sam Hughes and Paul Chuwen back in the squad and at last there appears to be some light at the end of the tunnel on the injury front,' he added.

Saltash took the first half honours, their lead coming on 15 minutes when Farnham made room on the right before firing the ball across for Hughes to dive full-length and send his header into the corner of the net.

The advantage was doubled, nine minutes before the break, when Nathan Cudmore's headed back-pass beat Glassup for Marc Thorne to fire past a covering defender from an acute angle.
