A house owner is to raffle his £375,000 'dream home'. David Roberts (48), of Haven Park, St Ive, says he is preparing to let the owner of the winning ticket have the keys to his property in the early autumn after a raffle that will be 'legal and above board'. However, tickets can only be legally purchased after participants have first answered a multi-purpose question, they will cost £500 apiece, and David needs to sell 800 of them to cover all costs. The house, with views of Kit Hill, is between Liskeard and Callington, and less than 20 miles from Plymouth. It boasts four bedrooms, an additional bedroom/study, lounge, dining hall, en- suite bathroom, garden room, and large garden. Among the £150,000 worth of improvements made by Mr Roberts, are an American-style kitchen/ breakfast/family room, while the first floor roof terrace takes full advantage of the surrounding scenery. David bought the house in 2000 thinking it would become a 'dream home' but he separated from his wife soon after. He carried on with his improvement plans, and now says he only wants to get back the money still outstanding through mortgages and loans. The house has been for sale for four months but David says the sector of the market into which it fits has slowed down and he simply wants to recoup all the money he has spent on improving it. Convinced that he must now take sale action himself, he has made the decision to turn his home into a lottery prize. David says that any money left over from ticket sales when all expenses have been covered will go to charity, with children's causes top of the list. 'It was my dream home when I bought it, but now it has to go,' he said.
