A Looe hotel has won high praise after it stepped in at the last moment to save a couple's wedding day – the hotel manager even postponing his holiday to ensure everything went well. Geoff Pratt, whose family comes from Tavistock but who works as assistant manager for HBH Woolacotts in Liskeard, and his wife-to-be Nicola Trembath, a dental nurse from St Keyne, had spent 18 months arranging their big day with a grand reception to follow the marriage ceremony – but just two weeks before the date, the venue where the reception was to be held let them down. The couple, who will settle in St Keyne, turned to the Hannafore Point Hotel in Looe and, as Geoff's father Les Pratt from Tavistock, explained, they could not have been more helpful. 'I'm a chef myself so I know what it is like trying to arrange something like this at short notice,' he said. 'We were lucky enough to find a vacancy for the right day at the Hannafore Point Hotel and from the moment we phoned them to make inquiries to the moment we left, they treated us like royalty. 'We had an absolutely wonderful day with many, many compliments about the meal, the lovely staff, how helpful everyone was, the wonderful views – everything! 'I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made this wonderful day possible, from the general manager Mark Huckaby-Stretch, who postponed his holiday to help us out, to all his staff – we couldn't have done it without them.' Geoff, 25 and Nicola, 21, are currently on honeymoon enjoying a safari in Kenya. Hotel manager Mark this week said the couple had been absolutely distraught when they first contacted him after being let down by their original choice but everyone at the Hannafore Point had been determined to make their big day a success. 'They are a really lovely couple,' said Mark.
