Callington’s Honey Fair will still be held on a Wednesday – but organisers say they will seriously consider extending the event later into the day.
Some local people have called for the fair to be moved to a Saturday, but a Callington Lions spokesperson said the club did not want to break with a tradition going back many centuries.
Callington was first granted a charter to hold its Honey Fair in 1267.
The fair was always held on the first Wednesday of October in the past and this was continued when it was revived in the 1970s.
However, the Lions club is looking at ways to make the event more accessible to people who work and children who are at school during the day.
The Lions say they would like to involve more local groups and organisations in the event and they will be looking to recruit more assistance on the day.
