FILMING for a new movie based around the legend of the sword Excalibur is taking place on Bodmin Moor.
The Kid Who Would Be King, starring Patrick Stewart and Rebecca Ferguson, is due to be released by Twentieth Century Fox next year.
Louis Ashbourne Serkis (Alice Through the Looking Glass) stars as Alex, a 12- year-old schoolboy whose every-day problems are dwarfed by his discovery of the mythical Excalibur.
An epic adventure begins as Alex and his friends take on medieval menace Morgana, who wants to destroy the world.
At Minions Post Office, the shop was transformed into a set for the day on Tuesday – and filming has been taking place at various locations on the moor.
Owners Carol Abbotts and her daughter Alex said that having the crew descend upon the shop had been ‘interesting – and manic’.
Speaking on Wednesday, Carol said: ‘It took them about three days to change the shop for filming and it’s being put back together as normal today.
‘We managed to stay open while filming was going on – we were selling newspapers and milk from the tearoom.’
Production and security crews have descended on Minions and have set up a base just off the track to Caradon Hill.
Lighting and special effects vehicles as well as catering and other vehicles have been coming and going.
Magnet Publicist Claudia Kalindjian said that filming would be going on on parts of Bodmin Moor for a few days – and at other locations in Cornwall.
