To date our water storage, treatment and distributor service has not been subsidised to maintain its millions of profits.
To allegedly safeguard the former owners of the water etc., the privatising government appointed a 'Watchdog', in order the price of water should be maintained within the reach of the public, whom it assured had powers to enforce its instructions.
Recently the alleged 'Watchdog' whined a little regarding the enormous profits and ordered a price cut. Immediately the company bite back, that to maintain its profits, it would sack ten per cent of its already cut to the minimum workforce.
Indicating that there would be no further investment as there would be no workforce to implement it.
A recent world survey shows that Britain and its SW has the highest priced water in any part of the developed world.
They face no competition and their customers have no alternative source.
It is now time for the 'Watchdog' to bare its teeth, 'Any drop in an efficient service (including repairs) will be deemed to be a breach of contract.
The Government will take over lock, stock and barrel, the company which fails to comply with the 'Watchdogs' instructions. If, as is hoped, the 'Watchdog' is armed with the promised powers, the Water company will have to comply and supply our water at a reasonable price together with an assured and efficient service.
If the 'Watchdog' is but a toothless whining mongrel, let us be saved some money by dismissing it alongside the unemployed workers.
