A CALL has gone out to help a South East Cornwall resident make her special birthday as memorable as it can be this year.
On Valentine’s Day, February 14, Monica Robinson, who lives in Looe, will turn 100.
Staff at the Rivermead View Care Home where Monica lives say: “As we will not be able to hold the kind of celebration we might have usually planned with family and friends, we were hoping we might at least be able to ensure she receives a fair few cards to mark her day.
“To this end, we are putting out a call for cards for Monica, to help bring a little joy that might otherwise be missing, given the current ongoing restrictions.”
Monica, who served in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force during World War Two, was a swimming teacher who is still a passionate advocate for children learning to swim today. She has three children, says Rivermead’s wellbeing coordinator Shirin Hodgson-Watt, is an avid reader, and likes to listen to jazz.
“We would love it if people would send a card, if they feel so inclined, but due to COVID regulations, please don’t send flowers,” said Shirin.
Anyone wishing to send a card should post it to: Rivermead View, Station Road, East Looe, PL13 1HN.
