RESIDENTS of the Tamar Valley are being asked for their views on how to reduce the visual impact of electricity pylons.

In November 2014, the National Grid identified a section of overhead power line which crosses the River Tamar near Weir Quay as having a significant visual impact on the landscape.

Now, in collaboration with the Tamar Valley AONB, a study is being carried out into how power lines affect the countryside – and local people are being asked to share their knowledge.

The National Grid says it will then investigate engineering options which could be used to reduce the visual impact of the electricity transmission lines.

Public events are being held on Thursday, January 22, in St Dominick, as well as on the Devon side of the Tamar at Bere Ferrers. Members of the project team will be on hand to answer questions and provide additional information about the project.

The events will take place simultaneously from 2pm-8pm at the following locations:

l The Who'd Have Thought It Inn, St Dominick, Saltash, Cornwall PL12 6TG

l Bere Ferrers Church Hall, Station Road, Bere Ferrers, Devon PL20 7JS

Tamar Valley AONB manager Corinna Woodall said: 'Whether it's providing information about wildlife, archaeology or heritage, local people are well placed to share information which will be considered.'
