PEOPLE in the Liskeard area are being asked to comment on their experiences of walking and cycling in the town using an interactive map.

Sustrans has been commissioned by Liskeard Town Council to provide a comprehensive walking and cycling plan for the town in a £50k project. This will include potential routes that will encourage local people and visitors to access Liskeard and its surroundings.

In order to produce this plan, Sustrans is analysing the current situation, and consulting with stakeholders and the general public.

A digital mapping tool has been created to help people engage as fully as possible.

The tool will help Sustrans gather people’s ideas on potential routes and find out what people perceive as the barriers to walking and cycling in and around Liskeard. It will also be able to identify how many unique participants have responded to the survey and other useful data to help shape the plans.

People are asked to go onto the map by visiting https://communitymap.uk/project/84 , click on the area of the town about which they would like to make a comment, and fill in the box which appears.

The three main questions seek to identify:

The main physical barriers to walking, cycling and wheeling in the area such as major roads, junctions, and railways

Potential cycle routes to connect the key origins and destinations within the area

Potential walking zones where there is a high pedestrian activity such as high streets, schools, busy pedestrian crossings

“You can add as any comments as you like and comments are anonymous,” said a Sustrans spokesperson.

“You can also see other people’s comments and ‘like’ if you support a comment. There is an example comment at Liskeard Hillfort Primary School already posted to get an idea of the type of comments and responses.”

The closing date for comments and contributions is October 3.
