A ‘Surviving Winter Appeal’ for 2017/18 is being launched for people in need.

Cornwall Community Foundation (CCF) is asking for help from all those who can give some or all of their Winter Fuel payment, or who would like to make a donation to support people who are facing hardship this winter in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Around 34,000 households in Cornwall live in fuel poverty and struggle with energy bills, resulting in health issues say the CCF.

Last year’s appeal enabled the organisation to award more than £13,000 in grants to 11 community groups, including Action for Children, the Citizen’s Advise Bureau Cornwall, Liskeard Breathers and the Cornwall Refuge Trust.

The CCF is an independent charity that invests in communities to improve the lives of others in the county. They mainly support volunteer-led community groups helping to overcome poverty for all ages.
